May 5, 2010 - Shoal Creek to host Associational Praise Festival
Choirs from churches throughout Morgan County will join together at Shoal Creek Baptist Church for a night of praise and worship on June 6 as the Morgan County Baptist Associatin
holds its annual Praise Festival. The choral event will begin at 5 p.m. and feature choirs from the association's small to medium size churches.
"It is an honor for us to host this event," said Marty Steelmon, Senior Pastor at Shoal Creek. "We are excited about our sister churches coming and sharing their musical talents with us
on this wonderful evening of worship." According to associational music director Harold Tate, each choir will present two selections. Members from participating churches, and the
general public, are welcome to attend.
April 3, 2010 - "Purchase" Easter Presentation
The Shoal Creek Baptist Celebration Choir and Creek Bank Players joined with members of the congregation to present "The Purchase" on April 2 and 3. With tremendous crowds attending both presentations,
and many decisions made, Music Minister Joe Holmes declared the effort a termendous success. "This was all about presenting the gospel message in a unique and creative way," Holmes said.
"I appreciate the effort that our church went through to bring folks in and let them experience first hand what Christ did for us on the cross."
Approximately 200 people attended the original drama on Friday night, and 250 on Saturday. But, Holmes said, it's not about numbers. "Hearts were touched and drawn closer to God," he said.
"If that happened to just one person, it would all have been worth it." Holmes said "The Purchase" will likely become an annual presentation. The drama views the events of
Christ's life, death and resurrection through the eyes of a fictional childhood friend named Josiah. The next presentation by the worship arts ministry at Shoal Creek will
a July 4th presentation, "God of Our Fathers".
