Dr. Jackie Kay

Bro. Jackie joined our staff in November 2018. He and his wife, Libby, have been married for 50 years. He was saved in 1962 at Bethlehem Baptist Church in Lacey's Spring, AL. Bro. Jackie surrendered to the ministry, was licensed and ordained all at Bethlehem Baptist Church. He served as a pastor from 1970 until 1995, when he bean work as an evangelist. In 2009, he was called to pastor Central Park Baptist in Decatur, AL and retired from Central Park April 30, 2018. Bro. Jackie is a graduate of the University of North Alabama with a Bachelor's in Secondary Education; Southwestern Biblical Theological Seminary (MDiv); New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary (DMin). His hobbies include hunting, Alabama Football, motorcycles and horses.

Minister of Administration & Outreach

Steadman Livingston

Bro. Steadman has a long history with Shoal Creek Baptist Church. He grew up and spent 18 years of his life at Shoal Creek. He accepted Christ as his Savior, was baptized and even surrendered to vocational ministry all at Shoal Creek. Steadman left and started working at Decatur Baptist Church as the ministry assistant to the Worship Pastor. He is a graduate of Liberty University with a B.S. in Religion and Biblical Studies. He has been licensed and ordained to the Gospel Ministry through Shoal Creek Baptist Church.

Steadman and his beautiful wife, Holly, were married at Shoal Creek in 2016. Holly is an RN with a BSN from the University of Alabama. Steadman enjoys serving on the ministerial staff and ministering to the members of Shoal Creek and its surrounding communities!

Minister of Music

Joe Holmes

Joe and his wife Kim came to Shoal Creek in 2003. Since January of 2006, Joe has served as Music Minister. Previously, Joe led worship for First United Methodist Church, Falkville First Baptist, Flint Baptist, and Friendship Baptist.

Joe loves leading God's people in worship. He has authored several dramas for the SCBC Creek Bank Players drama program, including "The Purchase" and "The Redneck Who Saved Christmas". Joe also plays piano and has written several original songs.

He and Kim claim four children - two by birth and two by marriage. Daughter Christen and her husband Hunter live in Priceville with their children Ginny Kathryn, Turner David and Walker Holmes Teague. Son Ben and his wife Sarah live in Greenville, SC with their Alaskan Husky Kobi.

Minister of Youth

Jonathan Pool

My name is Jonathan Pool, but I go by Jonny. I was born and raised in Decatur where I graduated from Austin High School. I have a degree in Social Work from the University of North Alabama. I am married to Alex Hembree Pool and currently live in Decatur. We recently welcomed our baby boy, Jenison, into the world in August 2019. My passion is to teach students about Christ and be an example of Christ to others.

Shannon Byess

Shannon Byess has been involved in children's ministry since she became a member in 2008 but began working as Children's Ministry Intern in 2015. She graduated from Calhoun Community College with her Associates Degree in General Sciences in 2014 and has since then began pursuing her degree in Religious Studies with a minor in Religious Education at Athens State University while working full-time at Arrowsight Inc. Shannon has accepted the call to Children's Ministry and Missions in her life and is looking forward to serving alongside of her church family in pursuit of God's passion.

Financial Secretary
Lynn Mouser

Lynn and husband Barry followed their two sons to Shoal Creek, joined and baptized in 2000.  Lynn and Barry both gave their heart to Jesus as youth in Cherokee County, AL.  Since joining, each having served in various volunteer rolls, currently Barry is chairman of maintenance committee and Lynn is Church Clerk. Lynn joined the staff as Financial Secretary in November 2016, previously employed as Senior Accounting Coordinator for 37 years at a major corporation.


Russell and his wife Tiffany are Shoal Creek members serving on the Praise Team/AV team and as Sunday School Teachers with two beautiful daughters - Scarlett and Lily.  Ryan and his wife Heather live in Killen AL, he serves as Youth Pastor at Faith Church in Florence while Heather is his ministry team partner - she also does photography. They also have 3 beautiful children Dalton, Addie and Sophia.


Lynn’s goal is to pursue the plan that God has set forth and work with this church family in bringing others to know Christ.

Interim Preschool Director

Kari Riffe

My name is Kari Riffe. The Lord led my family and I to Shoal Creek a little over a year ago. I earned a degree in Elementary Education from Pensacola Christian College in 2011. I have taught several different grade levels in Christian schools since then. I have had a love for children, especially younger ones, my whole life.

I have been married to my husband, Josh, for 8 years and we have two children who are 6 and 3. With the Lords help, my plan in serving as the Interim Preschool Director is to help grow this ministry to further the Gospel for His Kingdom.

Brittany Wallace

My name is Brittany Wallace. I have been volunteering in the preschool ministry since I graduated from high school in 2013. I am currently at Athens State University completing my degree in preschool education. My ambition is to work as a preschool director and a preschool teacher.

Missionaries to Uganda
Michael and Kellie Seger

Michael and Kellie Seger surrendered to missions in the fall of 2016. Subsequently, they accepted a call to serve as Co-Directors of Uganda House of Hope, a school and home for vulnerable children in Mbarara, Uganda in November 2016.


Prior to joining Shoal Creek in March 2018, Michael and Kellie worked in various school systems in North Mississippi. Michael taught Biology, coached basketball and cross country, and served as an administrative intern. He obtained his B.A. in Biology Education and his M.A. in Educational Leadership from The University of Mississippi. Kellie served as a special education teacher after obtaining her B.A. in Psychology from The University of Mississippi. She is also a Certified Academic Language Therapist with a M.E. in Dyslexia Therapy from Mississippi College.


Michael and Kellie have two sons, Caden and Braden Parker.
