Why go to Uganda to build an orphanage?
In July 2015, Shoal Creek Baptist sent 23 people to Uganda. They served alongside Pastor Nassan Ibrahim at Daystar Church. This trip was truly a game changer for Shoal Creek’s involvement in Missions.
After returning from Uganda, the call of God has been clear to provide a home, education, and love to the orphans in Uganda. Therefore, Shoal Creek Baptist Church is stepping out on faith to build a Southern Baptist Convention Direct ministry, which will be called House of Hope. We have purchased six acres of land. We continue to seek God’s leadership in raising funds for building phase one of the House of Hope, which includes the kitchen and chapel. Much prayer and details have led to this point.
As Christian singing group Avalon states in their song “Orphans of God,” we also want to be able to say, “Come ye unwanted and find affection; come all ye weary; come and lay down your head; come ye unworthy. You are my brother. …grace was made for lives like this.”
Ways you can help:
Go with us on our next trip! We will work with construction of the Orphanage, VBS, school evangelism, and leading worship services in local churches.
Plan your own trip! If you are interested in leading your own trip to help with various stages of construction, please contact Michael Seger at firstname.lastname@example.org.
We are excited that you are interested in going on a mission project with Shoal Creek Baptist Church to share the Gospel with the people of Southern Uganda. Teams will work with House of Hope and Day Star Church to minister to our children and the people of Mbarara. The team will do construction work to build the first building in the House of Hope Orphanage & School complex, minister in schools in the region, preach in churches in the area, encourage local pastors, work with Marx Optical in giving out eye glasses, conduct Vacation Bible Schools for children, and share the gospel in other ways.
